Fire stick won’t leave you in a pinch

The weatherproof fire stick Wildo is produced in Sweden and tested both in the conditions there and in Estonia, in cold and hot, rain and sun. A pack of matches being wet or spilled in the bag, or a lighter running out of gas is no longer a problem. The fire stick is easy to use and is impervious to weather conditions or mechanical damage. If it gets splashed, just dry it off. You can fasten it to your backpack using the included weatherproof string, and it will always be with you. A fire stick is the surest tool for making a fire. Of course, provided that you know how to use it.

Starting a fire with a fire stick is a nice alternative solution to the usual fire making, whether it has been with matches, lighter fluid, a lighter, kindling blocks or something else. If you’ve never started a fire with a fire stick, now is the perfect time to try!

A fire stick is definitely a “must have” piece of equipment if you are going on a backpacking hike. The weather is surprising, and especially in Estonia, it is not unusual to get rain sometimes in the middle of a hike. If matches or lighters get wet, starting a fire with them can be quite difficult – if not impossible. The fire stick works even when wet.

Going on a kayak or canoe trip with friends? A friendly recommendation: take a Wildo fire stick with you, just in case. Getting warm, drying wet clothes, and having warm food and drink are essential on a hike.

The Wildo fire stick set also comes with a sharp-edged iron to create sparks. If the iron should be lost, you can also use the back of a knife, for example, but the special iron included in the Wildo fire stick set is definitely more effective, more convenient to use and lets you get the flame up faster.

How to use a fire stick?

The first thing to do is scrape off the protective layer of darker material on the fire stick with the included iron. The silvery material underneath is what creates sparks.

The combustible material plays a big role in starting a fire. A suitable material for this is, for example, dry wood, and the smaller the wood chips are, the easier it is to start a flame. Make a small pile of the flammable material. With the help of the fire stick and the fire iron, you can create sparks from which the flame will rise. To generate sparks, rub the fire iron strongly against the fire stick and direct the resulting sparks to the burning material. For example, resin-rich tree chips burn very well. A piece of cotton wool brought from home or a ball made of cotton wool will light up even better. If this possibility exists, we would definitely recommend it. And naturally, a very good starting material is birch bark, which can be found in almost every forest. In addition, the following materials are also ideal: disinfectants with a high alcohol content, tampons, a piece of yarn from an older clothing item (like a sock), or a cotton hygiene cloth.

When using the fire stick, we recommend using a pulling motion with moderate pressure. Weak and quick scratching of the fire stick usually does not bring the desired result. The sparks burning at a temperature of about 3000 degrees will ignite a suitable material quickly.

How long does one fire stick last?

Fire sticks are produced in different sizes. The average fire stick is said to last for about 3,000 pulls. In reality, it would not be advisable to compare firesticks by the number of pulls. Experience has shown that fire sticks made of softer material work better; this means that they generate more sparks with one pull, i.e. they are more effective. So I would rather recommend soft sticks. In terms of convenience, large sticks are easier and more convenient to handle. The advantage of the small ones is that they simply take up less space in the backpack and are a gram lighter.

Right of withdrawal 

After receiving the order, the buyer has the right to withdraw from the contract entered into with the online shop within 30 days.

The right of withdrawal does not apply if the buyer is a legal person.

To exercise the 30-day right of withdrawal, the buyer may not use the ordered goods in any other way than is necessary in order to examine the nature, properties, and functioning of the goods in the same way the buyer would be allowed to test the goods in a physical shop.

If the products have been used in any other way than is necessary for the nature, characteristics or functionality of the goods or they have wear marks, the online shop has the right to reduce the refundable amount in accordance with the decrease in value of the goods.

In order to return the goods, the buyer should submit a withdrawal application whose form can be  accessed here and send it via e-mail no later than 30 days of receiving the goods.

The costs of returning the goods will be borne by the buyer, unless the reason for return is the fact  that the item being returned does not correspond to what was ordered (e.g. an incorrect or defective  item).

The buyer should return the goods within 30 days of submitting their application to do so or provide  proof that the goods have been handed over to the carrier within that period.

Having received the returned goods, the online shop refunds the buyer any amounts received from  the buyer on the basis of the contract immediately but no later than within 30 days of receiving the  application for withdrawal.

The online shop may refuse to process the refund until it receives the item that is the object of the  contract or until the buyer submits proof that the item has been sent back, whichever happens first.

If the buyer has explicitly chosen a method of delivery different from the most inexpensive normal  method of delivery offered by the online shop, the online shop is not required to refund to the  consumer the amount exceeding the cost of normal delivery.

The online shop has the right to withdraw from the sales transaction and request that the goods be  returned by the buyer if the marked price of the goods in the online shop is significantly lower than  the market price of the goods due to an error.
