Description

Hiking with a flask?

Yes, why not! The evenings by the fire are long and chilly. BUT! Be very careful and don’t overdo it with booze! First of all, it is harmful to your health in one way or another, and secondly, when you are on a hike, your body is tired and adjusted differently, and you are also definitely more dehydrated than otherwise. Therefore, the consumption of a stronger (or even leaner) alcoholic drink on a hike must not be like you are used to in a normal situation and environment. A small flask helps control the amount consumed.

How to choose a flask for hiking?

As always with hiking, the size and weight of the items you carry are important. The Mil-Tec camping flask is an ideal companion in this regard, because it weighs only 100-200 g, so the weight will still be reasonable even with the added liquid. In addition, it is a very durable product, because it is made of stainless steel.

Features of the flask

It is definitely worth choosing a flask with a cap attached to its body to take with you on an outing, because it is not convenient later to look for small dropped caps, sifting through the forest floor. You should also choose a suitable size so that you’ll have just the right amount of a pleasant warming drink with you.

Cleaning

First of all, the flask must be cleaned with hot water before the first use, so as not to drink any residues that may have remained on the flask during production. Therefore, before the first use, it is necessary to thoroughly wash the contents of the flask with hot water, as well as the cap and screw.

However, there are still other effective ways to thoroughly clean the flask, and any other bottle for that matter, to make sure that the drinking vessel is clean. Namely, you can try adding rice, salt or vinegar to the hot water. They help the flushing process to be even more efficient.

The same process should be repeated immediately after using the flask. Instead of letting it lay around in the bag and become sticky, rinse it immediately, drain it and store it with its cap opened.

TIP! Sometimes when pouring directly from the bottle into the flask, some of the good stuff can go to waste, and if you don’t have a funnel at hand, roll up, for example, foil or baking paper and you’ll have a disposable funnel!
