Description
A gas heater is indispensable on a chilly hike
While a gas stove is usually a well-known companion on a hike, hikers in cooler weather should also think about a gas heater. If you go hiking in cold temperatures, the small and compact Mil-Tec gas heater is indispensable for heating an open shelter or a hunting or camping hut. The device is not recommended for heating a small tent, as fire safety and adequate room ventilation must be ensured.
The gas heater is light but substantial
While the gas heater itself weighs approx. 330 g, the gas cylinder to go with it weighs the same again. This makes the total weight of the gas heater and cylinder about 630 g. Small dimensions and light weight allow the gas heater to be conveniently packed together with the gas cylinder in a hiking backpack. The heater comes with a comprehensive operation and safety manual, a bag to put the heater in, and feet for the gas cylinder, which ensure the stability of the heater on the ground. No matches are needed to light the heater, as it works with a built-in electric igniter.
The gas heater is made of aluminium and high-quality stainless steel. The device works by converting the energy of the gas flame into heat and radiating it in the desired direction, like for example an oven.
Dimensions: approx. 15 cm x 15 cm x 14 cm.
The gas heater is equipped with a protective grid that helps protect against accidental burns. The heating power can be adjusted through the gas tap, and thanks to this you can choose the heat level and at the same time also the rate of gas consumption that suits your purposes.
The gas should be of high quality
The gas to be used in the gas heater must comply with the European standard EN 417, which addresses single-fill metal cylinders of liquefied petroleum gases. The standard specifies material, construction, inspection and marking requirements for valved or non-valved cylinders for use with portable equipment, which in turn meet the conditions set out in the standard EN 521.
A good choice is Alpen Camping threaded gas cylinder, which has a threaded nozzle for connecting to devices. The threaded valve ensures safety and prevents excessive gas release when connecting and disconnecting the device. Thanks to this, Alpen Camping gases are conveniently reusable.
Camping gas contains a mixture of butane and propane.
Safety first!
- Use only gas specified in EN 417
- Always place the device on a level ground

- Never cover the heater with anything
- The heater cannot be used as a camping stove
- Do not touch the device when it is hot
